Dear Diary

So the Japanese Transport Officials didn’t believe my story and requested that I come up with a more believable story, so I decided to tell them the other story where the animals are actually humans. What I did was, I portrayed Orange Juice as my mother, Gita. The zebra with the broken leg was the weakened sailor, and the despicable cook was the hyena. The way I tried to tell the story was to replace the names. What I told them was that I couldn’t believe that my mother died right in front of me from a man that had just killed a disabled man. I also told them that I killed the man because he had ruined my life forever and that I also didn’t want him to hurt me either. I explained to them that I was the only one alive by the end of the intense journey that I had experienced, I stumbled onto shore and I when I woke up I was in hospital. When I told them this version of the story, the Japanese Transport Officials looked more pleased than they were when I told them the actual story of what happened. After this they left and I have never seen or heard from them till this day.

Dear Diary

I received an unexpected visit from two men who were apparently some Japanese Transport Officials and they asked me questions on what had happened when the Tsimtsum sank. I told them everything. I told them that the ship sank and I jumped into a lifeboat, with me, four other animals jumped in too. The animals were: a tiger (Richard Parker), orangutan (Orange Juice), a hyena and a zebra that had a broken leg. I also told them that Richard Parker killed the hyena right after the hyena had killed the orangutan and the zebra. I then told them how Richard Parker and I wound up on the Mexican border after a big storm. As I am telling them the story, I could se them looking at me like I’m crazy, but the truth is that it really happened that way. I have no idea why the Transport Officials wouldn’t believe my story.

Dear God

As I am in hospital, I’ve been thinking a lot about my family lately and I’ve also been thinking about my journey for the past 227 ays, lost at sea. I am grateful that I am still alive but I truly miss my family and Richard Parker too. I don’t know why, but I am still in denial of what happened these past couple of months, I mean, is it even possible for a human being to survive in a boat, in the middle of the sea, for about 7 whole months? It came to me as a surprise that I survived.

Dear Diary

It is about 2 pm judging by the sun and we’ve been at sea for such a long time now that i have lost count of the days.
The days seem to get longer and hope has started to slowly leave the boat.

Delicious little Pi has found an occupation , he seems to enjoy blowing his whistle even more as the days go by.

At first i thought he was using it to call for help which would have been strange and idiotic of him given the distance separating us from the rest of the world but oh well , one can never quite understand the human brain.

Now that i have put some thoughts into it, It seems like he might be using the whistle to get control over me.

In another life I would have objected to Pi’s doings but i have way too much on my mind to care about the silly little boy’s amusements ,on the other hand i care about his well-being.

He is slowly turning into a Plan B as food is becoming scarce around here and silly little Pi eats most of it whenever he can which i have to admit does not disturb me at all ,on the contrary, he has lost a remarkable amount of weight and i would hate to have to feed on nothing but bones.

I have been dreaming of a sumptuous banquet lately and need i say that Pi was indeed the banquet.
He might not know it yet but this life boat is slowly turning into a jungle ,and only the fittest will survive in the end.

Sweet little Pi does not stand a chance , its no longer about whether i will get him but rather about when.

He should enjoy the pitiful life he is living and feast while he can because soon i will be the only one feasting.

My dear diary – by Harsh Patel

Dear diary,
It’s been long since I’ve written to you but so many things are happening that I can’t believe.
2 weeks ago I met Salim. It’s been exactly 5years 3months and 13days since we’ve last spoken. When I saw him I didn’t know should I be glad or should I kill him. I’m still trying to understand how could him, as the closest person I have, do something like that to me. He took her from me. He took Latika. And now he tells me they had to. He tells me that there was no other choice. But you know, they could’ve at least tried to find me after. And they did not. They pretended like I didn’t exist.
I also saw Latika. She is more beautiful than ever. With her dark tan, and her charming smile, she took my heart again. Actually she had just put it back into my chest. Seeing her even for 15minutes meant to me more than anything I’ve done in past few years. She is exceptional. She is the one. I know it. I’ve known it since the first day I saw her in the slums. Since our first conversation. Since that rainy night.
And now, she is spending her life with that heartless criminal. Even if she wanted to leave him, she couldn’t.
We tried.   We tried to leave, but we failed. His men caught her on the train station and dragged her back to him. It was so painful watching them take her away, back to the man who is hurting her. And I just stood there watching. I was completely incapable of doing anything. They were all armed.
Now I’m left with nothing. And it hurts. I gained hope again for few seconds and it was taken away for me again. Maybe it’s for the best. Maybe our story is not written.
Bye,
Jamal
